Is There More to Tea than Sweet Tea?

When I moved back to the South, I rediscovered sweet tea. Now y’all know I’m diabetic, so sweet tea shouldn’t be on my radar, let alone on my dinner table. In spite of that, I have lots of black tea bags (no green or white for me) for making sweet sun tea, and it needs to have some sweetener in it. I’m not liking artificial sweeteners these days so I have a problem. What am I going to do with all these tea bags?

They are great for puffy eyes. Put 2 tea bags in a cup of warm water for a little bit, then put them in the freezer just long enough to get cold. Wring out the water and place the cool tea bags on your closed eyelids, lie down and tell the kids not to bother you for at least 15 minutes – 30 is better but may be unobtainable.

Cold, tea-soaked cloth is good for relieving the pain of sunburn. I don’t mean the kind of sunburn where you really need a hospital, but the kind that turns your skin red and you know it will be peeling in a day or so. My friend MM won’t drink tea because her mom did this to her (it worked though).

If you have one of those babies who likes to really latch on your nipples, tea bags can help ease the soreness from nursing. Soak the tea bag in warm water, squeeze out the water and put one on each nipple for about 15 minutes. Not romantic looking, but, hey, you might not be up for any romance right now anyway.

I hate to throw anything away that might have some use left in it and using the used-up tea from the bags in my plants, work. I use it in my houseplants by mixing the tea into the soil when I’m ready to pot or re-pot my plants. The empty bag is useless.
