Joshua Johnson leaves WAMU and NPR for MSNBC

I used to listen to Diane Rehm in the mornings as I was making my 45-minute commute to work. I really enjoyed her show and was sad when she retired. A new show, 1-A, took that morning slot, and it was hosted by Joshua Johnson. I enjoyed listening to him as well, with his incisive questioning and interesting guests. While it was clear that he had his own perspective, his questions felt balanced – no softballs.

“Johnson’s father is a retired business owner who served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam‚ and his uncle is a Marine whose son is a West Point graduate. Johnson’s mother is a retired school teacher and librarian, and his stepfather is an executive with the teachers’ union in Palm Beach County,” writes Ben Crandall of the South Florida Sun Sentinel. His weekend show, “This Week with Joshua Johnson” explores the events of the week in depth. I enjoy it.
