If you are like many of us, living on a fixed income isn’t quite what you thought it would be. You envisioned travel, grandchildren perhaps, not having anything to worry about except what time you felt like getting out of bed. The reality is quite different, though. When you thought about retirement, you may not have factored in accurately the cost of medical care, particularly if you got excellent (or even good) health care benefits through your employer.
You find you need more money to have a life style more like the one popularly promoted – you know, perfect health, living the high life, boating, playing tennis, unlimited travel. Here are some suggestions for things to do and/or places to look for work you can do from home.
- paralegal / Equivity
- customer service / Genesis Call Center; Discover
- Small Business Administration (through AARP job board)
- Amazon
Be aware that there are work from home scams out there. For example, the offer asks you to pay money upfront. That should be a huge red flag. There are offers to help you set up your own internet business. You’re asked to pay for training, then more training, etc. There are “jobs” that get you to invest in equipment or supplies to create a product for a company which the company never buys from you. Finally, there are jobs which claim that you don’t need any particular job skills to do them, and are willing to pay you top dollar. Jobs that seem too good to be true, are!
