31 Things to Get Rid of in January

  1. old or expired makeup (toss most used makeup after 3 months)
  2. kitchen appliances you don’t use (ice cream makers, special waffle irons, cake pop makers, bread machines, etc.)
  3. fast food stuff (sauce packets, plastic wear)
  4. unexpired food that is in your pantry but that no one wants to eat
  5. expired medication (check with drug store for drop off locations, don’t dump in toilet)
  6. water bottles from events (keep the ones you really use and donate the rest)
  7. T-shirts from vacations
  8. old toys (I still have Hot Wheels and my son is 30)
  9. old, dried-up pens and markers
  10. boxes of buttons for clothes you no longer have
  11. papers that should be shredded (go HERE for suggestions)
  12. embarrasing underwear (you know, worn elastic, holes, doesn’t fit, etc.)
  13. purses (sell those designer bags or take to consignment shop)
  14. books you will never read again
  15. chipped dishes and cups (I’m looking in the mirror here)
  16. clothes that don’t fit (let’s be real, what size do you actually wear?)
  17. single use plastic grocery bags
  18. eyeglasses with old prescriptions (donate to your local Lions Club or other organization)
  19. magazines older than 6 months
  20. ragged towels, bath mats and sheets
  21. cardboard boxes
  22. outdated electronics and mystery cords
  23. shoes that you’ll never wear again (I’m thinking high heels that don’t work with my new knee)
  24. singles (socks, earrings, anything that should be a pair but you only have one)
  25. craft project supplies for projects you started but will never finish
  26. old partially used perfume that you don’t or won’t wear
  27. knicknacks and collectables that just collect dust
  28. junk drawers (mine collect everything that is outdated or doesn’t have a place)
  29. gift wrap and bags (how many do you need?)
  30. costume jewelry (I take mine to Goodwill)
  31. useless things at the bottom of your purse

Tackle one project each day. Sort the items, donate what can be used by someone else, sell the valuables, and trash the rest.
