Fall is my favorite season. Nothing beats a cool, crisp morning followed by a warm, sunny day. I enjoy summer but I love, love, love fall. What do you think about when you think of fall? I think about fall clothes – sweaters, fuzzy socks, suede shoes, leather jackets, nail polish that isn’t too light, moving from coral to red, and from turquoise to teal. Instead of Cajun Shrimp on my toes, I might wear Read Heads Ahead. I think about apple pie and bread pudding, chili, stew, and chicken noodles. I think about fruit cake (yes, fruit cake).
My favorite fruit cakes come from the Collin Street Bakery in Corsicana, Texas (not too far from Dallas). Their Deluxe Fruitcake is fabulous and a bit pricey ($25 + shipping from them, $35 from Amazon),. I also enjoy their apricot pecan cake and their pineapple pecan cake. Yum. I may be the only person in my house (now) who likes fruitcake, but I can eat enough of it to make up for the lack of others.
