This morning, I got a call from 844-348-3391 saying that I owed money to Eversource. (I have never had an Eversource account, but do have a CT phone number.) So I called the number. It started off with one of those “if you speak Spanish press” statements. Then a person came on the line and said that I owed money to Eversource and how did I want to pay. I said that I had never had an Eversource account, and they hung up. A few minutes later, I got a call from Western Mass Electric, 877-659-6326. The person asked if I had gotten the gift cards to pay my bill. THIS IS CLEARLY FRAUD. So watch out, and share this information. Report scams to the company they are trying to impersonate. Call your local police and report them as well. These people may be hard to stop but it can be done. They often target seniors who appear vulnerable. They also target those who might be in a difficult spot with COVID related financial issues. And, of course, they target any phone number from the service area. BEWARE.
