Did you know that happiness is good for your physical, mental and spiritual health? Happiness can increase both the quantity and quality of your days here on earth, in other words help you live longer with a better quality of life. Sometimes we don’t understand what will actually make us happy. We substitute temporary highs, like buying something, for longer-lasting happiness – then wonder why we aren’t satisfied. There is a great, free course offered by Yale through Coursera called “The Science of Well Being” taught by Dr. Laurie Santos. For you AARP members, there is a interactive class called “Pursuit of Happiness” in Staying Sharp. I (Wild Cooking Woman) took the Yale class and learned auite a bit about what really makes us happy, why things rarely do, and how to become happier overall. The AARP class (Kintsugi) is not as involved and more slanted toward older folks, not college students. Both are excellent and useful.
